Week Two: Environmental ResearchChinese and American students will team up for a cultural exchange to work with scientists and educators. Students will develop an understanding of the interconnectedness and complexity of South Florida environmental systems and the issues facing them. This program will give students a professional experience not easily obtained by the general population and will provide a competitive edge, particularly to students interested in life science, engineering, oceanography and research. |
Students will reside at the FAU Jupiter campus in Palm Beach County, FL. The program provides 24 hour supervision by FAU staff. Each student is assigned their own room in a four student pod. CCTV, security card door access and FAU Police are available to ensure a safe campus environment. Please click here for a campus tour.
Staffing & SupervisionThe staff-to-student ratio of 1:8 ensures personalized attention in a safe, supportive environment. An English-Chinese translator will be available during academic programming. H20 staff include academic professionals from FAU and representatives from local and state agencies in the environmental science and education fields. |

"Enhancing the year round academic experience with a rigorous residential component offered by FAU, a local state university, is a replicable model for all states. It provides high school students their “next step” in understanding the opportunities to grow as a professional in a field and serves as an inspiration for learning."
