"At-Home Science Kit" Partnership with A.D Henderson University School
Thursday, Apr 01, 2021
FAU Pine Jog Environmental Education Center Orchid Propagation Laboratory has partnered with A.D. Henderson University School to participate in their “At-Home Science Kits” program. Each student will receive one Florida butterfly orchid (Encyclia tampensis) that was grown in our laboratory and will establish it locally as part of a student restoration project.
To prepare the orchids for delivery, FAU Pine Jog graduate students Josephine Story and Ashley Schorr placed each young orchid into a sterile conical vial. The vials were kept at Pine Jog under a natural grow light where they were monitored for contamination. Last week the healthy orchids were delivered to the school by the Pine Jog team. We look forward to seeing them flourish as part of this innovative collaboration!
